The YISD Wellness Clinic has experienced unprecedented success since its grand opening in late February. The clinic has serviced a total of 2052 employees and eligible dependents through the end of August. The number of visits per month is approximately 340, including the two full weeks the District was closed during that time period.
The YISD Wellness Clinic is open Monday through Friday, according to the District school calendar. The clinic is available for YISD employees and eligible dependents covered under the YISD Employee Health Benefits Plan. No appointment is necessary; however, wait times may vary according to patient load. All services are provided at no cost to the employee and/or eligible covered dependent. Lab draws are only performed on Tuesday from 8:30-11:30 am by Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL).
As a reminder, please present a picture ID and current YISD Employee Health Benefits Plan ID card at sign in. Please call ahead in the afternoon hours to ensure the clinic is still able to take additional patients due to limited space and increased utilization of services.

The clinic is unable to provide immunizations, X-Rays, EKG’s and/or other such services that are normally provided in a hospital or outpatient setting.
The clinic is not here to take the place of your primary care physician. Regular treatment with a primary healthcare provider is essential for chronic health conditions for which constant monitoring and/or ongoing treatment must be provided, such as: diabetes, high/low blood pressure, high cholesterol, and asthma.
The clinic is strictly for non-emergency health care needs, for example:
- Bladder infections
- Coughs, colds, sinus infections
- Earaches, fever, sore throats
- Minor injuries
- Rashes, skin infections
- Preventive health/wellness screenings/weight management
- Glucose and Blood pressure monitoring (does not replace physician monitoring of your condition)
- Workers’ Compensation injuries that do not require more than first-aid treatment
For medical emergencies that require immediate attention, please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department. Some of these conditions are:
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Chest pain
- Severe shortness of breath
- Head injuries
- Pregnancy complications
- Poisonings
- Seizures
- Serious mental health conditions
- Severe pain
- Chronic conditions
- Fractures/broken bones
- Deep lacerations
- Signs of stroke or heart attack
Please keep in mind that flu season is just around the corner … remember to practice good hand washing techniques, and to cover your coughs/sneezes.
